everything is okay.
Can we call this a hole in the wall? A projection mapping project aimed to show people a little haven, a little break from the busy world as they walk past.
touch designer!
With the help of Kelly Warner, I went into Touch Designer to create an interactive projection mapping piece that rotates and moves as the user walks in front of the projection.

cinema 4D
Animated and rendered in C4D, I brought the render into TD which then was rigged up to be interactive and playback the animation as the user interacted with it. It was much easier to work this way because TD's animation capabilities and 3D rendering is still not up to par or maybe just not as intuitive; however, I found that TD is STILL super cool and SUPER capable in doing almost anything :0

I was inspired by the 3D anamorphic billboards that have been surfacing and so I did a projection mapping version!

process
To be a little bit more specific about my process, I rendered out my animation to be a high frame rate so that in TD, I can put in nodes that will link up the user's x-position with the frame number in the playback. So technically, it creates a parallax effect as the user walks past it, as IF they are actually walking past this hole in the wall world. This illusion is simply a playback of the animation. But before all that, Kelly Warner had provided me a rough template of the "room" and we figured ou the right amount of rotation through trial and error to make it really feel like a parallax.
