Invisible Cities

Eutropia is a city where the people are always on the move. When life gets hard, when things get tiring, they move onto the next. All in the palm of the hands of Mercury, these little fickle citizens live in this endless lifestyle of change.

WHY FELT?

Needle felting felt right for this project, capturing the small, soft, and whimsical nature of the citizenry described in this chapter. Tactile materials seemed the best way to express the vastness of creation contrasted with the delicate smallness of its inhabitants.

Through this lens, humanity might appear like these needle-felted characters: small, soft, and a little silly—despite how serious or tough life may feel.

By focusing on specific framing, the viewer also sees in the perspective of the citizens, little by little. Until at the end we see the bigger picture, the true force behind the city of Eutropia.
